DOJ Acquires 31 New DNA Analysts

This is the time of year when we often look back and reflect on our accomplishments and our blessings.

One of the accomplishments of which we can all be proud is the addition of 31 new DNA positions in our Crime Laboratory System. With the support of law enforcement organizations and officers throughout the state, the legislature and Governor approved my request for 31 new positions. Those positions have been filled and the new analysts are currently in training. By June 2008, they will have the expertise necessary to do case work and provide expert testimony in your cases.

In Wisconsin, one of the blessings we enjoy is the strong, professional working relationship that exists in our law enforcement community. Acquiring the DNA analysts is just one example of the good that results from such a relationship. I am proud and honored to be a part of such a profession and I look forward to continuing that strong partnership in 2008.

I wish each of you and your families a Happy Holiday Season and a safe New Year.
