Madison Crime Lab

Madision LabThe Crime Laboratory in Madison was the first in the state, created by the legislature in 1947. The lab is located on the west side of Madison, on University Avenue. (Please note: because of the need to maintain the integrity and security of evidence, the building is not open to public tours.)

The Madison lab serves south-central and south-west Wisconsin, as well as northern Wisconsin for those disciplines not currently staffed at the Wauasu lab.

Police officers and other authorized submitters who would like a map giving detailed driving instructions should contact the lab by e-mail or phone. The map can be transmitted electronically.
