Kevin C. Potter,
Administrator
Mr. Potter was appointed Administrator of the Division of Legal Services by Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen effective January 1, 2007. He brings to this position a variety of experience from both the public and private sectors. Prior to his appointment, Potter had served as the Chief Legal Counsel at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections since May of 2001. In 1991 he was appointed United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin where he served as the chief federal law enforcement official in the westernmost 44 counties of the state, directing both the office's criminal and civil law divisions. He served in that role until 1993 when he joined the law firm of Brennan Steil Basting & MacDougall S.C. Potter was elected Wood County District Attorney for three terms starting in 1982 and also served as Chairman of the Wisconsin Labor and Industry Review Commission (1989-1991) and Chairman of the Wisconsin Tax Appeals Commission (1987-1989).
